OUR MINORS

PAINTING

In our painting minor program, painters paint because they find they can listen and speak about ineffable things through this time-tested medium. God sent his representational image so we can know him through Christ, as Jesus is “the image of the invisible God” (Col 1:15). Through what we see, we can know what we cannot see or put into words.

Painters can rely on this fundamental truth as they make images. At IWU, painters focus on honing their ability to speak and listen with the medium of paint. They hone their perceptual skills and develop their creative capacities, while locating their place within culture and the rich tradition of paint.
