ART+DESIGN BFA

The BFA program in IWU’s Division of Art+Design is a studio-home where creative young people can be mentored and challenged as they seek God’s will for their lives. We believe that each student is made in the image of our vibrantly creative God, and that their giftings are part of His divine strategy for the earth. In keeping with this framework, the educational experiences we provide are designed to deepen each student’s understanding of their unique God-given identity, and equip them with the skills, understanding and know-how that they will need to pursue their calling inside of God’s beautiful plan for His world.

Our BFA program begins with an emphasis on who each student is, and progresses towards equipping each student for work whose purpose is beyond their own “career”. It is designed to provide each student with an individualized sequence of classes that unfold in the context of a unified creative community.

Built on the truths of God’s Kingdom: Our goal is to help each student grow in their faith and artistry as they discover who they are in Christ within a community of friends and faculty. We pray with our students, design with our students, create art with our students, travel with our students, and mentor our students.

CUSTOMIZABLE

In addition to foundational classes covering things like color and creative problem solving, students have the opportunity to choose freely from the full palette of art and design studio opportunities offered at IWU, which cover a wide range of subjects from web design to weaving, from placemaking to painting, and from bronze casting to business practices for artists and designers.

PURPOSEFUL

Designed to help each student move from sharpening their sense of how God has gifted them to equipping them for where God may be leading.

We accept AP Art credit, as well as most studio transfer credits from accredited institutions.

BFA students can choose to work in their feild of interest by being an independent artist or work within the larger setting of museums, galleries, archives, educational institutions, libraries, small businesses, or corporations. BFA students can work within roles such as:
